When is the best time to reserve a date for my session?

The best time to book your session is As Soon As Possible. Right now, I’m booking about 1-2 months out, so send me an email and see what’s available! I also offer a Maternity + Newborn bundle. If you have an interest in a Maternity Session, this is a great discount!

When is the best time for my newborn session?

The best time to shoot images of newborns is within the first 2 weeks of life. This is very important, and it’s how I get those content & sleepy shots.

How will we schedule the date of the newborn session ahead of time?

Once you decide you'd like to book, we should get you on the schedule. I roughly schedule you for the weekend after your due date, but also am sure to keep spots the weekend before!

Where do newborn sessions take place?

Newborn sessions take place at your house.

Studio options are available for a fee and depending on schedules

What should I do to prepare the house for a newborn session?

Prior to the session, please take a look around and look for a room that has the best light for the time of day that your session is booked. This room will need a lot of light and a little bit of space for me to move around! On the day of the session, please turn the heat up/AC off. We want the house to be very warm so the baby will be comfortable and sleep soundly.

Should I buy props for the sessions?

If you would like to provide a few props, then go for it! I really only shoot lifestyle newborn sessions, so I will not be bringing a bunch of props with me. We will use the natural surroundings in your house (family room, master bedroom, nursery, etc...). If you have a few items you'd like included, just let me know, and we'll make it work!

What should we expect at a newborn session?

I usually schedule newborn sessions in the morning or early afternoon, plan for it to last at least an hour, depending on your schedule & lighting in your house.  The baby should be all full and burped by the time we start the session. Depending on the little one, we’ll start with awake or sleepy shots, and the rest of the session will be built around the baby. If s/he is fussy, we’ll take time to rock them back to sleep, or you’ll top them off if they are hungry.  It usually doesn’t take too long to get them to this point, but this is a reason why I insist that these sessions are done within the first two weeks.

My spouse and I would like to be included in the session. What do we wear?

I suggest solid neutral colors or simple patterns. This keeps the photos very natural and allows the baby to stand out.

Can we grab some shots of the new baby and older siblings?

Absolutely. I love sibling shots. With sibling shots, I ask for patience. Sometimes, big siblings do not want anything to do with getting their picture taken, and we need to be patient with them. I have my tricks (and sometimes bribes) to help get the shot. Patience is key!
